Samsung Galaxy SIII mini
I have just recently got this phone so i thought it would be a good place to start. when the phone first arrived it was quite simple to setup. it came with a easy to follow guide that talked you through the basics of setting up the phone. when you use the phone all of the buttons and menus are easily labeled making it easy to find your way around if this is your first phone. the phone runs android which you can download apps for.
The SIII mini is a mid range phone costing only £250 it wont break most peoples bank. for this small price it packs allot of features such as a camera, NFC, bluetooth and many others which ill go into later.
Design and feel
Unlike its bigger brother the normal Galaxy SII which is HUMUNGOUS!!!the mini fells good in the hand and can be used comfortably. the screen is the right size so that you can reach all four corners of the screen with your thumb making it great for single handed operation. the phone does have a slight plasticy feeling to the back and edges though this wont bother most people unless your used to he latest IPhone 5. measuring 122.55 x 63 x 9.9mm (4.82 x 2.48 x 0.39 inches) it will easily fit in most pockets and it wont add a major amount of bulk either. it only way approximately 120g so it wont weigh you down. the lock and volume buttons are opposite each other on either side of the phone at the top, the buttons are surprising easy to push down meaning it can be done with your thumb relatively easily . at the very top of the phone there is a standard 3.5mm audio jack (where you can plug headphones in) , underneath that on the front of the phone there is a VGA front facing camera which you can use just like a normal camera to take pictures or videos of yourself or to Skype people. next to that is the grill for the in call speaker ,the audio quality form this is good but not great and if you have the volume even moderately high it can be heard by other people the screen on the phone i excellent, it may not have as many pixels as some other phones but is crisp enough to read text of and watch videos comfortably. it is 4” diagonally which is a nice size as it gives ample room for typing. the screen is made of gorilla glass which is meant to be c
scratch resistant however i have noticed a few scratches popping up around the edge so i would definitely recommend a screen protector. the screen is extremely touch sensitive meaning it will never mis a touch however you do get the odd accident when you touch the wrong thing.
The SIII mini uses a standard SIM rather than a micro-SIM meaning if your buying this asa new phone but want to keep your current sim you wont need to change it. the phone offers expandable storage by a micro-`SD card slot meaning you can add more space to store music, Films and apps. packing a pretty large battery means you'll easily go an entire day and still have plenty of charge left at the end but heavy users may struggle to reach the end of the day if the play lots of games or watch lots of films on it.
